Cycle Routes of France
France is Europe's leading cycling country, with more than 26,000 km of waymarked cycle paths, including nine major EuroVelo long-distance routes. From the Loire à Vélo to the ViaRhôna, from the canals of the Midi to the Atlantic coast of the Vélodyssée, find here the finest long-distance routes that suit families as much as autonomous riders.
The EuroVelo network in France
The EuroVelo network, coordinated by the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF), has 17 long-distance routes crossing Europe. Nine of these routes run through France: EuroVelo 1 (Atlantic Coast / Vélodyssée), EV3 (Pilgrims Route / Scandibérique), EV4 (Central Europe / Vélomaritime), EV5 (Via Romea Francigena), EV6 (Atlantic-Black Sea / Loire à Vélo), EV8 (Mediterranean), EV15 (Rhine), EV17 (Rhône / ViaRhôna) and EV19 (Meuse). All routes are fully waymarked, mostly separated from motor traffic, and family-friendly. The French national véloroutes, identified by a V followed by a number (V1 to V90), form a complementary network that makes almost the entire country accessible by bike.
