Luberon by Bike
An enchanted loop through the perched villages of the Luberon, lavender fields, Roussillon ochres, and Provencal markets.
Three days by bike in the heart of the Luberon, between hilltop villages and lavender fields. The route links Cavaillon, Gordes clinging to its rock, Roussillon with its blazing ochres, then Apt, capital of candied fruit. This is an intimate Provence of small cypress-lined roads, colourful markets and viewpoints at every turn. The terrain is hilly — a few fine climbs to the perched villages reward you with superb panoramas. The lavender bloom (mid-June to mid-July) is spectacular, but spring and autumn offer kinder temperatures for cycling. Set off early in summer to avoid the heat, carry water and enjoy a tasting stop in the villages.
