Rhine Cycle Route: EuroVelo 15 in Alsace

Three days on EuroVelo 15, the route that follows the Rhine from its Swiss source to the North Sea; this section links Huningue to Strasbourg. It starts at the Swiss border and the Three Countries footbridge, reaches Neuf-Brisach, Vauban's fortress town laid out as a perfect star and UNESCO listed, then Colmar and its Little Venice, Selestat and its humanist library at the edge of the Ried, before Strasbourg. The terrain is entirely flat, on dykes and dedicated paths crossing alluvial forests now rare in Europe. This is one of the easiest routes on the continent, suited to loaded touring bikes and beginners alike. EuroVelo 15 signage is continuous and reliable; ferries and footbridges allow a return on the German bank.
