Bay of the Somme by Bike

Two days by bike around the Baie de Somme, one of the world's most beautiful bays. The route links Abbeville, Saint-Valery-sur-Somme (where William the Conqueror set sail), Le Crotoy and Cayeux-sur-Mer with its famous beach huts. It's a landscape of light and water, between salt meadows, dunes and sandbanks where seals and migratory birds rest. The terrain is flat, ideal for families, on greenways and quiet roads. Watch the tide tables, which transform the bay hour by hour, and bring binoculars for the seals. Spring and autumn, the migration seasons, are magical; the bay's little steam train nicely rounds out the trip.
