The route links Tours and its covered market, Vouvray and its white wines, Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine and its famous goat's cheese, then Chinon and its vineyard. It's a journey combining Loire art de vivre, heritage and good food: rillettes, rillons, dried pears, Loire wines and colourful markets punctuate the stages. Book cellar visits and go easy on tastings if you're driving. The route lends itself to a leisurely pace, between two Loire châteaux. Spring and autumn (harvest) are most pleasant. An ideal getaway for lovers of local produce and Loire gentleness.
