France Wine Road
From Champagne to Languedoc, a tour of France's greatest vineyards.
Fourteen days across France's greatest wine regions, from Champagne to Provence. The route strings together terroirs that could not be more different: the chalk of Reims and its champagne houses, the flower-decked villages of the Alsace wine road around Colmar, the UNESCO-listed climats of Burgundy from Beaune, the rolled pebbles of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, then Bandol and the Languedoc. It is as much a food trip as a wine one: every stop has its table, its signature grape and its landscape. Book estate tastings ahead, especially during harvest (September-October), and always nominate a sober driver. Best taken at the unhurried pace of a true back-road journey, without trying to see it all.
