The route links the South-West and the Massif Central, from Saint-Cirq-Lapopie perched above the Lot to Rocamadour clinging to its cliff, by way of the red-sandstone lanes of Collonges-la-Rouge and the Romanesque jewel of Conques. Allow a week so you are not rushing from one visit to the next: each village rewards an evening stroll, once the tour coaches have left. Avoid July and August at the busiest sites and start early for Rocamadour. An ideal loop for anyone who loves old stone, country markets and back roads.
