Corsica: Island Circuit
From Bastia to Bonifacio, a grand tour of the Island of Beauty between mountains and coves.
Ten days to circle the Isle of Beauty, from Bastia to Ajaccio. The route follows the wild Cap Corse, reaches Calvi and its Genoese citadel, the UNESCO-listed Scandola nature reserve accessible by boat, before arriving in Ajaccio, Napoleon's birthplace. This is a Corsica of contrasts: turquoise coves, perched mountain villages and fragrant maquis. The coastal roads are superb but narrow and winding — allow plenty for journey times. High season, in July-August, swamps harbours and beaches; May-June and September offer an already-warm sea and far more peace. Book ferries and accommodation well ahead.
