Tour du Mont-Blanc: Best Stages
The must-do stages of the Tour du Mont-Blanc across three countries, through glaciers, alpine pastures, and mountain refuges.
Seven days to complete the Tour du Mont-Blanc, one of the world's most famous treks, circling the roof of the Alps. The route links Les Houches, the Contamines and Col du Bonhomme refuges, then crosses into Italy towards Courmayeur before returning via Switzerland. It's a demanding but accessible high-mountain hike for fit walkers: around 170 km and 10,000 m of cumulative ascent, hut to hut. The season runs from mid-June to mid-September, once the snow has melted from the passes. Book refuges well ahead — they sell out months before summer. Bring serious mountain gear and watch the weather, which changes fast at altitude.
