GR223: Cotentin Coastal Path
Around the Cotentin peninsula via the coastal path, through dunes, heather moors, granite headlands, and Norman harbors.
Seven days on the GR223, the Cotentin coastal path, at the tip of Normandy. The route links Barneville-Carteret, the spectacular Nez de Jobourg with some of Europe's highest cliffs, Cherbourg-en-Cotentin and Barfleur, one of France's most beautiful villages. It's a wild, maritime hike, among moors, dunes, fishing ports and wind-swept capes. The path alternates easy stretches with more committing sections along the cliffs; bring good shoes and a windbreaker, as the weather changes fast on the Channel. Spring and summer offer the longest days. Watch the tides on the beach sections and enjoy the seafood at your stops.
